Bass Coast Hits The Melbourne AirwavesMr Geoff Cox, host of Channel 9’s “Victorian Postcards” is telling all of Melbourne about the delights of Bass Coast. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 20th November 2001 - Back to News Mr Geoff Cox, host of Channel 9’s "Victorian Postcards" is telling all of Melbourne about the delights of Bass Coast.
Bass Coast Shire Council and the Bass Coast Development Board has coordinated a five week media campaign on Melbourne radio station 3MP using the popular host of Postcards. In the campaign Mr Cox promotes Bass Coast to the lucrative Melbourne market as the ideal Christmas and New Year "get away" location.
"With the current uncertainty and the competitive nature of regional tourism organisations in the state, Bass Coast has beaten many of the other regions in getting the message across to the Melbourne market that now is the time to act and book that Christmas and New Year break," said Daryl Warren, Tourism Coordinator with Council.
"The call to action for the campaign is to contact the local visitor information centres and make that all important holiday booking," said Daryl. "Similar campaigns conducted with Geoff have produced strong responses from the Melbourne market."
Daryl explained that the latest forecasts from the Reserve Bank show that Victorians are planning to holiday locally during 2001/2002.
"This means the five week campaign could not have come at a better time for the local tourism industry," said Daryl. "Not only in terms of getting bookings, but also in lifting the profile of the Bass Coast in the Melbourne market."
