The Wilsons Promontory- Cathedral fire is 2850 hectares. Air reconnaissance yesterday afternoon observed a flare up in the NW of the fire which has crossed the Five Mile Rd. Preparation of control lines around the Yanakie Airbase should be completed today but the conditions are not suitable for ignition and burning out. Crews will also continue asset protection work around Tidal River. The forecast over the coming days is for strengthening E – NE winds which may increase fire activity.

The East Tyers – Thomson fire is 1,621 hectares. There has been no change overnight. Crews will finish constructing control lines in preparation for burning out operations.

Dargo- White Timber Spur is 15,000 hectares. Control line work is largely completed and back burning may occur when damp conditions improve.

There are currently no threats to any communities from these fires.
