The facility's new 25 metre pool and dedicated Learn to Swim facilities mean better access and more tailored support for every age group, starting from babies through to school-aged kids. The redevelopment also includes a visible swim school office and new, tiered observation areas, helping families stay engaged and children feel supported during lessons.

Family friendly facilities

In addition to swim school, children can also enjoy a new zero-depth indoor water play area, which will offer a safe, fun environment ideal for toddlers and young children to explore and build water confidence. A new family-friendly 'Change Village' will also make it easier for parents with multiple children or prams to change safely together after swim lessons.

Dedicated school changing rooms were also included in the design, allowing school and water education user groups the opportunity to have their own dedicated changing space, in line with Child Safe Standards.

Swim skills confidence

Wellington Shire Mayor Scott Rossetti urged residents to consider enrolling their children in swim school, highlighting that learning to swim is not only a key life skill - it's also one of the most effective ways to prevent drowning.

"Swimming lessons are about more than just laps and floaties, they help kids build water confidence, learn vital safety skills and build swimming competence. Aqua Energy's Learn to Swim program guides kids from their first splash right through to stroke correction and even pre-squad levels," said Cr Rossetti.

Swim school enrolments

Cr Rossetti also said, "It's all about helping them feel safe and capable in the water; learning how to float, tread water and get themselves to safety. All in a fun and supportive environment that encourages kids to try new things, set goals and celebrate their swim wins."

To enrol, please visit Aqua Energy website to complete a Swim School Enrolment Form. Until construction is complete, the West Sale Pool remains the primary base for swim lessons, showing council's strong commitment to maintaining continuity for local children. Construction on the Aqua Energy redevelopment is expected to be completed in September this year.
