Developing fundamental movement skills

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said, "The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is already a magnificent venue, offering courts for basketball and netball, along with being home to GippSport. Now this offering of gymnastics will provide the community with another opportunity to enjoy a leading sporting facility in their backyard,"

"Gymnastics is the leading sport for developing fundamental movement skills that provide a lifelong love of learning, sport and physical activity. Participants gain general fitness, coordination, agility, strength, balance and speed, and gymnastics provides opportunities for people of all abilities, genders and different cultural backgrounds."

Gymnastics to children of all ages

Energetic Gymnastics is a locally owned and operated family business that provides gymnastics and fundamental movement activities to children of all ages and abilities. "At GRISS, a dedicated gymnastics space has been created and we will fit this out with two 10 metre tumbling trampolines, a full sprung floor, ninja gym zone, balance zone, vault and agility zone, "There is a parent viewing area that runs the entire length of the space and a dedicated child-safe bathroom directly off the gymnasium." Head Coach Elise Edgar said.

Energetic Gymnastics’ new home

Energetic Gymnastics began in Traralgon in 2012, running classes from a local school hall before expanding into a stand-alone facility in 2014. Gymnastics Victoria is thrilled that Energetic Gymnastics has relocated to GRISS.

Gymnastics Victoria CEO Robin O’Neill said, "Energetic Gymnastics is recognised as a leading operator across Australia as a Gymnastics Victoria club of the year finalist for the last three years, and they will continue to create more opportunities for the community to participate in gymnastics,"

"The relocation of Energetic Gymnastics to a larger facility will generate additional employment opportunities. The Victorian gymnastics workforce is 83% female and many of these new positions will empower more females to develop leadership skills through coaching." Term 2 gymnastics classes have commenced at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium.
