Archies Creek Painting a Winner Matthew Petrucci with his award winning painting Matthew Petrucci’s painting "Cypress Pine, Archies Creek", is the inaugural winner of the Bass Coast Acquisitive Art Exhibition 2011, announced on Saturday at the Inverloch Community Hub. By Bass Coast - 7th September 2011 - Back to News Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, officially opened the exhibition and announced the winner to a large crowd of visitors. Mathew Petrucci is the recipient of a $5,000 award. One of the judges, Rodney Forbes, Senior Lecturer and Director of Gippsland Centre for Art and Design and Director of Switchback Gallery said that Matthew Petrucci showed a consistency in his work, and his ability to use a limited colour palette showed his experience as an artist. "The artwork, "Cypress Pine", depicts a moody sky and looking into the painting you feel like you are in this place at Archies Creek," Mr Forbes said. The four other exhibiting artists received an award of $1,000 each. They are Ramon Horsfield, Cynthia Phelan, Peter Walker and Diana Wilson. The winning painting and the artwork of all participating artists is on exhibition at the Inverloch Community Hub until Thursday, 29 September.
