Gippsland Incident Control Centre Update - Wednesday

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Incident Control Centre at Maffra has been assisting landholders with the assessment of the impact of recent heavy rains, storms and flooding that occurred across the region.

DPI Incident Controller, Daniel Miller, said so far there have been reports from 453 landholders, with damage reported to 11,738 hectares.

Stock losses to date are:

Number of sheep lost 674

Number of beef cattle lost 667

Number of dairy cattle lost 341

Number of poultry lost 38

To date 992 tonnes of hay have also been lost as have 2541 tonnes of grain.

"DPI is advising the Victorian Farmers Federation on where fodder is most needed and

recovery staff are working with other government agencies, including the Department of Human

Services, to provide access to health and safety support and financial advice," Mr Miller said.

Affected Gippsland landholders are advised to contact the Maffra DPI Incident Control Centre on 1800 729 834 to register their details.

The call centre is open between 8am and 8pm.
