Have Your Say On Moe’s Early Learning Centre Redevelopment

Latrobe City Council is considering location options for the redevelopment of the Moe Early Learning Centre (MELC) and is asking for public comment on the issue.

By Latrobe City - 27th August 2008 - Back to News

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Bruce Lougheed, said that Council had identified several potential sites for this development and was now seeking comment from the community regarding the merits of each location, and suggestions regarding the types of services and facilities that could be included in such a development.

"To ensure that members of the public can voice their opinions on this issue, the MELC Redevelopment Project information office will be open on Wednesday 27 August and Thursday 4 September from 12noon to 8.30pm. The project office will be located at the service centre in Albert Street Moe and will be staffed by council officers who can provide information and receive feedback on the redevelopment plans," Cr Lougheed said.

"There are also information packs that can be sent out to those who request them, or can be collected from the Moe service centre, any of the Moe preschools and the Moe Early Learning Centre."

"Alternatively, people can write or email to Council. Written comments should be received by Friday 19 September.

"We would encourage members of the community with ideas on the redevelopment of the MELC to either attend the information office in person or provide written comments. The community’s input is invaluable when planning projects of this nature," Cr Lougheed concluded.

Written comments will be accepted until Friday 19 September and should be forwarded to: Latrobe City Council, MELC Redevelopment Project,

PO Box 264, MORWELL VIC 3840 or email: davidwe@latrobe.vic.gov.au.

Further information is available on the Latrobe City Council website www.latrobe.vic.gov.au or by contacting David Welch, manager family services, telephone 1300 367 700.
