Free Green Waste Disposal Pete Roberts (left) and Colin Robey with a pile of greenwaste at the Wonthaggi Transfer Station Residents are encouraged to clean up their property in time for summer By Carol McCormack - 11th November 2002 - Back to News Greenwaste, such as lawn clippings and prunings, can be disposed of for free at waste transfer stations throughout Bass Coast every Saturday, Sunday and Monday from the 2 of November until the 16 of December.
"Though it doesn’t always feel like it right now, summer is on its way," said Pete Roberts, Waste Management Officer with Bass Coast Shire Council. "Along with the hot days comes the threat of bushfire."
"We’re encouraging residents to protect their family and home this summer by making it fire safe and cleaning up around their home," he said. "The lack of rain has made the area dry, so it’s important to reduce fire hazards."
Greenwaste can be taken to Council’s waste transfer stations in Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Rhyll and Grantville.
"Whether its leaves, grass clippings or small prunings, you can dispose of it for free every Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 2 November until 16 December," said Pete.
The free disposal is for residents only. It does not apply to commercial operators.
For more information contact Pete Roberts at Council on (03) 5671 2211 or (03) 5951 3311.
