Aerospace and Economics in Gippsland

The latest in economic development comes to Gippsland with the Aerospace Industry Forum and ‘The Vista and the Vision’ summit

March is bringing the latest in economic development to Gippsland in the way of a two-day event.

The Aerospace Forum and Economic Summit (sponsored by Gippsland Development Ltd. - GDL) is the first of its kind in Gippsland and comes in response to the recent developments that are occurring within these industries in Gippsland.

GDL’s chairman, Mr Graeme Pearce is hoping that the event will help to build on the industry growth that has already taken place within the region.

The Aerospace Forum starts on Thursday March 21st at the acclaimed Century Inn at Traralgon.

The Economic Summit is scheduled to take place the following day. Following the success of the preceding summit (2001), this year’s focus is ‘The Vista and the Vision’ and will include and overview of the consolidation of gains in the last year. The work of private industry, local, state and commonwealth governments will also be covered.

If you have been contemplating what may be approaching in economics of Gippsland, the summit is sure to be enlightening with the presentation of various reports and agendas concerning the engineering, manufacturing, aerospace and I.T. industries.

Also part of the event is the announcement of the inaugural Gippsland Ambassadors. Prominent Gippslanders will be recognized for their contribution to Gippsland and will be asked to promote Gippsland and all that the region has to offer to the rest of Australia and the world.

Pearce is excited about the Ambassador’s showcase, stating in a media release, "We have lot to be proud of and a lot of great Gippsland achievers. We want to let them know we treasure them and we want them to tell the rest of the world about this great part of the country that we live in."

Another exciting aspect of the event will be the Gippsland’s Women in Business delegation to Singapore. This section will discuss sustainable regions and the latest on the industry cluster project. Several Gippsland businesses succeeding within the cluster will be commended.
