Come In Spinning At Anzac Day Races At Traralgon The playing of an historic game has been approved for this year’s Anzac Day race meeting on Monday 25th April, 2011 to be held at Glenview Park Traralgon. By Russell Northe - 21st April 2011 - Back to News While Moe historically hosts an ANZAC day race meeting each year, the meeting was transferred to the Latrobe Valley Race Club in Traralgon this year due to the state of the track in Moe which has been affected by recent rain events, said Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe.
"When Moe hosted the ANZAC race event they have also been able to ensure that the game of "Two Up" is able to be played on this important day," said Mr Northe.
"Two Up is very popular with veterans and their families and is an integral part of this yearly event.
"Due to the late notice of the race meeting being transferred to Traralgon, there were difficulties experienced also with transferring Two Up due to the gaming regulations that exist with who can conduct this game.
"With the intervention of the Minister for Gaming, Two Up will be able to be played at the Latrobe Valley Racing Club on ANZAC day."
According to Latrobe Valley Racing Club Manager Brendan Blackshaw, Two Up will be played on course between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on the day.
"Everyone loves playing Two Up on Anzac Day and we are pleased that with the support of the Government, that we’ve been able to secure a license for the afternoon. We look forward to the term ‘come in spinner’ ringing out throughout the afternoon."
The LVRC is also delighted with the support received from the Traralgon RSL in organizing a flag raising ceremony on the day that will commence at 12:40pm.
"We will have a bugler and a strong presence from the RSL so we are looking forward to seeing a lot of people coming that little bit early to pay their respects for those that have served us in the past." Media: Russell Northe 0408 22 55 23 / Julia Auciello 5133 9088
