Local students to benefit from free seminar series

Wellington Shire Council is providing a series of informative and educational theatrical presentations from the Flying Bookworm Theatre Co. for local primary students.

By Wellington Shire Council - 20th July 2004 - Back to News

Over 400 Wellington primary school students will enjoy live performances of popular stories including Tiddlik the Frog, Edward the Emu and various fairy tales over 21 and 22 July as part of the shire’s library service’s activity program.

The Melbourne-based Flying Bookworm Theatre Co. has been entertaining Victorian school children for over 30 years with presentations that make literacy fun, and create an atmosphere of involvement, enthusiasm and participation.

Students from schools in Seaspray, Meerlieu, Boisdale, Briagolong, Airly Sale, Rosedale and Alberton will benefit from the theatre’s visit to the shire.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "The council is always pleased to provide educational opportunities like this for our younger residents. This series of presentations will give students from some of the shire’s smaller primary schools the chance to experience high-quality children’s drama."

More information is available by telephoning Cathy Carr from the Wellington Library Service on 1300 366 244.
