Gippsland Kids Going Two Years Spartan Strong
Spartan Kids returns to Gippsland.
The Andrews Labor Government will get Victorian kids away from screens and into the outdoors in the 2020 April school holidays with the return of Spartan Kids to Gippsland.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced Drouin’s Civic Park would again be transformed into a Spartan arena on 7 and 8 April next year as part of the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $85 million sports and community initiative.
Children aged three to 13 can run, crawl, balance and climb their way through Spartan Australia’s purpose built muddy and fun-filled obstacle course over two action packed days.
The non-competitive and family friendly event is open to kids of all abilities and fitness levels with a focus on encouraging young Victorians to spend their school holidays physically active.
More than 3000 children and families from across the state and country participated in this year’s inaugural event, boosting local tourism and filling up hotels and cafes across the region.

"We’re proud to support events that will get kids from right across Victoria outdoors, healthy and active during the school holidays."
"Spartan Kids was a massive hit in Drouin this year as thousands of visitors flocked to the region to join the fun and festivities. Next year’s event promises to be bigger and better as even more families tackle the obstacle course and spend time in glorious Gippsland."
Quotes attributable to Spartan Australia Managing Director Chris Heverin
"We are very happy to be back in Gippsland; our previous Spartan Kids race in Drouin attracted massive crowds across the two days in a perfect kids event pre-Easter.
"In 2020 we are very excited to be introducing a kids’ competitive wave for the first time in Australia. The competition will be for kids aged 10-13 years old over three kilometres with our Spartan obstacles to earn a place on the podium for the top three male and female finishers."
