Martin Cameron hosts Tee Up for Mental Health Golf Day supporting Lifeline Gippsland and Rotary, register by 20 Sep 2024
Nationals' MP Martin Cameron will host the Tee Up for Mental Health Golf Day on September 27th, raising funds for Lifeline Gippsland's crisis service and Rotary's mental health projects. Register by September 20th to participate.
The Nationals' Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, will once again host the Tee up for Mental Health Golf Day to raise critical funds for mental health supports and programs. All proceeds from the day will go to Lifeline Gippsland to fund its crisis telephone counselling service and to Rotary to support its local mental health projects. "Lifeline Gippsland experienced a 45 per cent increase in calls to its 24-hour crisis line during the pandemic, and that surge hasn't eased off."

Support mental health
Mr Cameron said, "Lifeline Gippsland receives $150,000 annually from the State Government and triages an average of 11,000 calls a year at a cost of $430,000, so the financial shortfall must be recouped through fundraising. The crisis telephone line at Lifeline Gippsland provides mental health support for Victorians, so we are raising funds for a really important cause."
"Likewise, Rotary does a power of work in our communities by donating to mental health initiatives and helping fund mental health first aid programs. Our Rotarians selflessly do so much behind-the-scenes in the mental health space, especially for young people, which is critical given around 75 per cent of mental health issues start between 12-25 years of age. This day is a whole lot of fun for a great cause, so I encourage anyone interested in playing to register," he said.
The Tee-up for Mental Health Golf Day will be held at the Traralgon Golf Club on Friday 27th September and is a three-person Ambrose event. There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, including $10,000 for a hole in one on the 15th hole. Registrations are open now until 20th September.
