More aged care beds for Moe

Latrobe City Council mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan has welcomed the announcement by the Royal Freemasons of new aged care beds for Moe.

By Portal Admin - 27th February 2017 - Back to News

"The announcement today will deliver 144 aged care beds for Moe," Cr O’Callaghan said.

"This development speaks straight to the aspirations of our community who in our Strength Led Transition envisaged a future role for this municipality as an Aged Care Hub of Excellence. This initiative was developed by our community at the Community Conversations and was immediately voted into the top 10 of ideas proposed on the night.

"Clearly our residents recognise the considerable economic engine that is the aged care sector and almost more importantly, the strong desire of our community to age in place.

"Having the ability to age in a place where your social connections are strong, where you are surrounded by family and friends, where you know and understand services is vitally beneficial to ageing well.

"This project will create vital jobs for our community during a time of change and transition – the timing of this announcement could not be more perfect.

"We thank the Royal Freemasons for their commitment to regional communities and look forward to the opening of this facility."
