Gippsland Sports Academy "Medico Hygiene Services Badminton Athletes" achieve outstanding resultsThe Gippsland Sports Academy Medico Hygiene Services Badminton athletes have acheived outstanding results at the recent U13 & U17 Victorian Titles and Victorian Team Selections. By Karen Cashman - 28th November 2005 - Back to News Twin brothers and doubles partners Haydn & Damien Hector have proved too strong for their much smaller opponents in the U13 doubles. The twin duo has finished off an outstanding year, winning the U13 Doubles Victorian title. The brothers competed in 5 tournaments. Out of the 5, they were champions 3 times, runners up once and semi finalists once. Damien was also runner up in the mixed doubles of the Victorian Titles with Haydn making it to the semi finals. They both also made it through to the semi finals of the singles.
To "top off" the outsttanding event, the twins were named in the U13 Victorian Team. Well done Haydn & Damien.
Jack Burgess has had an exceptional year with selection in the first U15 team which competed in Geelong in September. Jacks team came runners up in the team event and in the individuals Jack made the semi finals of the main draw in both the doubles and mixed doubles. Jack successfully won the "consolation" singles event. At the end of the carnival, Jack acheived U15 Australian ranking of #5 in Singles, #3 in Doubles and #2 in mixed doubles.
Jack has also secured a position in the Victorian Team #1 Team in the U17 age bracket. He will be off to Perth next Easter to compete in the Championships.

All Athletes have competed consistently throughout the year and have proven that Gippsland players are among the best badminton players in the state.
