Calling All Artists – Registrations Open For Arts Victoria’S New Grants Program Online registrations have opened for Arts Victoria’s new VicArts Grants program. By Russell Northe - 14th August 2013 - Back to News Member for Morwell Russell Northe has encouraged professional Victorian artists and organisations with creative ideas to register their details on Arts Victoria’s new online grants portal and kick start their applications for project funding in 2014. "VicArts Grants is a new open and competitive grants program which welcomes applications from all artforms and types of creative projects," Mr Northe said. "It will offer grants of between $5,000 and $75,000 for projects that will develop – and bring dynamism to – Victoria’s arts sector. "Whether you’re a musician, a circus performer, a poet, a painter or any discipline in between – VicArts Grants is looking to support the very best ideas and creative projects.
"The Morwell electorate has many talented artists and a range of diverse artistic organisations, and I encourage people in our local community to consider applying for a grant under this program."
The program, announced in the 2013-14 Victorian State Budget, brings together Arts Victoria’s former Arts Development, Contemporary and Live Music Development, Community Partnerships and International programs. "While VicArts Grants will continue to support the types of activity that Arts Victoria has supported in the past, the program’s more open and flexible approach will provide scope for new, innovative ideas and collaborations that might not have fitted all the criteria for the former grant programs. The application process has also been streamlined and for the first time applications will be accepted online." Mr Northe said he was committed to ensuring that the Victorian Coalition Government’s investment in the arts delivers benefit to artists, arts organisations and the community. "The VicArts Grants program is part of a suite of reforms that we have introduced over the last three years to ensure that Victoria’s renowned arts sector continues to grow and lead the nation, that we develop new talent and artforms, and that Victorians have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse array of quality arts experiences." Arts Victoria’s new online grants portal is now open for registrations and applications for funding will be accepted from Monday 2 September 2013. Applications will close on Wednesday 18 September for projects starting from January 2014. Further information, including full program guidelines, can be found at arts.vic.gov.au/vicarts, and potential applicants are encouraged to contact Arts Victoria staff to discuss their ideas.
