Tell Us What You Think Of Our Public Open Spaces In order to provide the best possible use of open space around the municipality, By Latrobe City - 8th February 2012 - Back to News Latrobe City Council is reviewing its public open space strategy; and we want to hear your thoughts on our parks, reserves and open spaces.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen, said that gauging people’s opinions on how public open space is used and valued in Latrobe City is an important step in the process of reviewing the strategy.
"We want to know how people use the city’s parks and reserves, are they a valuable asset in your local community? Do we need more open space or is there an adequate amount. How could existing public open space be improved?
"By examining these issues and listening to the community’s views will allow us to determine current and future open space requirements.
"There are a number of ways that the community can participate in the review. We are holding a number of community workshops at local venues around the municipality; there will be community listening posts stationed in major shopping centres; a community survey and residents can make a submission directly to Council," Cr Vermeulen said.
"Community engagement activities will commence on 13 February 2012. We invite all interested individuals, township associations and community groups to attend the session nearest to their own community or if that is not possible to attend a listening post or make a submission to Council.
"It is your community, your municipality, your open space, so please do let us know your views and we can work together to ensure the public open space strategy is the right document for us," Cr Vermeulen concluded.
