Ingram calls for review of Maffra planning amendment Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, says the future growth of Maffra will be jeopardised by the recently approved Wellington Shire Planning Amendment C20. By Craig Ingram - 1st April 2005 - Back to News "I believe that the planning panel’s recommendations and the needs and interests of the Maffra community have not been given significant consideration in the approval process," Mr Ingram said.
"It is my view that Wellington Shire Council has not acted in the best interest of the Maffra community in its planning approach for the town."
"In a letter to the Planning Minister, Rob Hulls, Mr Ingram said there is significant unease at the way the Wellington shire is managing issues like planning in Maffra.
"From my discussions with the Maffra community the Wellington shire’s strategic vision for the town is also in need of a significant overhaul. This was also identified in the conclusions of the panel report," he said.
"There are a number of inconsistencies and arguably poor planning processes that were identified by the panel.
"I have requested that the Planning Minister conducts an urgent review of this decision and seeks further advice from the department on the issues raised in the panel report," Mr Ingram concluded.
