Small Business Victoria‟s workshops and seminars. · All workshops and seminars are delivered by private sector business specialists who are well-qualified and experienced. Individuals interested in starting a business in the Morwell electorate will be able to access relevant, reliable and affordable information on commercialising a new idea thanks to a forthcoming workshop announced today by Member for Morwell and Parliament Secretary for Small Business and Tourism Russell Northe. Mr Northe said the „Commercialising Your New Idea workshop‟, supported by the Coalition Government, would be held at the Latrobe City Council, 141 Commercial Road, Morwell at 5.30pm on Monday, 3 March 2014 and on Monday 17 March at 6.00pm. "Many great ideas and inventions never see the light of day because the feasibility, cost and timescale of bringing a new product or service to market have not been considered," Mr Northe said. "Held over two sessions, the Small Business Victoria, „Commercialising Your New Idea‟ workshop will enable you to determine how to protect your intellectual property, fully assess the market potential of your idea, and develop a realistic commercialisation strategy and plan. "Two free follow-up mentoring sessions with an experienced adviser will ensure you are on the right track from day one. This workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 participants. Mr Northe said "I believe it‟s vitally important to get the best advice possible when commercialising an idea and often the only way to make that idea work for your small business, I commend this workshop to any small business operator in the Morwell area. "Last year more than 4,000 businesses throughout the state participated in Small Business Victoria‟s workshops and seminars. Through the program, businesses and prospective business owners are provided with the facts and advice needed to make informed decisions and create a platform for ongoing success," Mr Northe said. Popular topics in the program include starting up, financial management, employing people and marketing. All workshops and seminars are delivered by private sector business specialists who are well-qualified and experienced in small business. Innovation, Services and Small Business Minister Louise Asher said the Coalition Government recognised the vital role Victoria‟s 530,000 small businesses played in the economy of the state. "We are committed to encouraging small business and individual initiative, and to creating an environment that rewards those who work hard, save, invest and create employment," Ms Asher said.
