Overdue library item? Don’t worry, donate.A Charity event called Cans for Fines will run in Latrobe city. This is a good news for overdue library books. Learn why... By news@gippsland - 22nd August 2016 - Back to News If you’ve discovered an overdue Latrobe City library book under the coffee table or in your child’s library bag, you don’t have to worry about a fine this August – you can simply donate a can of food for a good cause instead. The Cans for Fines program supports a range of local charities.
Latrobe City Council’s coordinator libraries, Deb Skinner, said library members had been generous so far.
"At each of our libraries, we’ve collected a wide range of canned food. The local charities we’re supporting will be thrilled with the donations we will be able to provide.
"Unfortunately, we can’t accept a donation in lieu of an item borrowed from one of the SWIFT partner libraries," Deb concluded.
Cans for Fines will run until 31 August.
