LOCAL ORGANIZATION APPEALS FOR FUNDS TO HELP INDIAN FLOOD VICTIMS

Glory to the King Ministries International, a Gippsland based Christian ministry organization with affiliated ministries throughout Asia and Africa, is appealing for funds to help the victims of the recent floods in India.

Last month unusually heavy rains caused flooding to major rivers in India, bringing devastation to a large part of the country. In Andhra Pradesh, thousands of homes were totally destroyed, and even more suffered some damage, with hundreds of villages being under water. Thousands of acres of crops were also destroyed, along with infrastructure such as roads, railway lines and bridges. Many people have lost all their possessions and been left homeless and lacking access to food and clean drinking water. Diseases are also beginning to take hold because of the unsanitary conditions.

Rev. Lynn Fowler, the International Director of Glory to the King Ministries International, said, "This disaster has not made the news here in Australia, but the situation, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, is desperate. GTKMI has more than 40 pastors working in the villages of Andhra Pradesh, who are in an ideal position to distribute help to those who have lost so much. Whatever is raised in this appeal will be forwarded directly to our Indian representative, and through him and our pastors there distributed to those most in need."

To donate to this appeal, please send a cheque or money order to Glory to the King Ministries International, PO Box 432, Churchill, Vic 3842. Please indicate on the reverse that it is for the "India Appeal".

The appeal will remain open till 10th October, 2006. GTKMI is registered with the Australian Government as a non-profit organization.
