The Moe Rail Precinct Revitalisation Project is part of the State Government’s Transit Cities initiative, established to create safe, vibrant and accessible communities throughout Victoria.

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White said that the proposed design will create an attractive, safe and vibrant precinct in the heart of Moe and would help to instil civic pride into the Latrobe City Community.

"The project will reinvigorate Moe’s central business district and the exciting design really highlights the potential of this project to give the town centre a fresh new look and feel and provide the community of Moe with a functional, multi purpose precinct incorporating many key facilities.

"The design includes a new Civic Centre comprising a new library, Council service centre, community meeting rooms and a café; a civic plaza, shared zone, bus interchange, taxi ranks, car parking and public toilets.

"The design encompasses a range of attractive and safe landscaped open spaces, a youth precinct, green roof, children’s play area, picnic and barbecue area, terraced lawns, shade trees and public seating.

"The design incorporates many environmentally sustainable design principles," Cr White said.

Farley Ward Councillor Lisa Price explained that the design drawings were an important step towards achieving the broader aspirations of the Moe Activity Centre Plan for the Moe community.

"The design will help achieve the project drivers of improving the liveability of Moe, attracting third party investment, and achieving population growth rates comparable to other regional cities.

"Most importantly, this project is well on the way to providing a dynamic and welcoming centre for the community of Moe," Cr Price concluded.
