Cape Community Action

After 12 months of work by local residents a draft version of Cape Paterson’s Community Action Plan has arrived!

By Bass Coast - 15th October 2010 - Back to News

Workshop participants developed a vision for Cape Paterson which outlines key priority areas and possible community projects, and they are keen to get feedback from the community.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Planning Facilitor, Karyn Scott, said it was important to recognise that this was not a Council plan.

"The Plan has been prepared by community volunteers who are keen to contribute to their local community," explained Ms Scott.

"The group has sought the views of their community through two surveys and have used this information and the interests and expertise of those willing to be involved, to come up with their projects.

"At this stage the projects are ideas. They will need further investigation and discussion with possible partner organisations, authorities, funding bodies and the community if they are to proceed further," continued Ms Scott.

"It really is important to get feedback from the community so that the plan really reflects the priorities of the people who live in Cape Paterson."

To view the draft plan contact any of the Cape Paterson Community planning participants or alternatively contact communityplanningteam@basscoast.vic.gov.au

You can also provide feedback to the group via this address by Wednesday, 3 November 2010, for consideration at the next meeting. Please note that feedback will be made available to the public.

The Cape Paterson Community Action Plan has been developed by the community for the community, with support provided by Council and funded through the Victorian State Government’s Community Support Fund. It relies on the input and involvement of local community members, all are welcome.
