Two of Bass Coast Shire Council’s early learning facilities were renovated over the summer holidays.

These major renewal and upgrade works were programmed during the Christmas school break to avoid disrupting the important services these facilities provide.

The Phillip Island Early Learning Centre received new flooring, while the Inverloch and District Preschool has had a number of renovations completed.

The flooring upgrade at the Phillip Island Early Learning Centre was fully funded as part of Council’s Capital Works Program and included the replacement of the flooring throughout the facility.

The upgrade works at the Inverloch Preschool included the replacement of some roofing, external wall and cladding repairs, new plumbing and toilets, mould treatment, new flooring in the toilets and toy shed plumbing and repairs.

These renovations have improved the quality and safety of the facility and have fixed accessibility issues which will help to improve the service that the preschool can offer local families.

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said that the summer holidays provide an excellent opportunity to get important upgrades completed.

"Both of these projects were programmed as part the 2020/21 Building and Open Space Renewal Program," Cr Tessari said.

"This continuing program is part of Council’s commitment to provide functional and safe building facilities, reserves and other public infrastructure within the Shire.

"These projects will help ensure delivery of Council's adopted Community Service Levels for Community Health and complement similar projects within the Shire recently completed under the Building and Open Space Renewal Program, in response to customer requests received from local residents and groups," Cr Tessari concluded.
