2017 Gippsland irrigation expo planning starts

The preparation for the 2017 Gippsland irrigation expo has started. Keep posts of the plans and ideas of the organisers.

Ideas are flowing again for the 2017 Gippsland irrigation expo.

The volunteer committee that organised the highly successful inaugural event reconvened last week to plan the next event.

More than 500 farmer attendees and 40+ national exhibitors are expected at the Sale showgrounds on March 15.

Committee chair, Macalister dairy farmer Iain Stewart said: "The first expo was a real eye-opener. We had only expected 100 or so attendees … not four times that number.

People came from South Australia and NSW. And the exhibitors said it was the most-effective selling expo they’d attended."

The 2017 event will be bigger, with more undercover display space, he said.

"That first expo showed that farmers were prepared to invest in water infrastructure. With the modernisation of the MID ongoing, this is allowing irrigators better delivery and volumes of water to the farm gate. This, in turn, translates to more-efficient irrigation and cost savings."

Iain added: "We all know that dairying is in a tough slog, but we know that investing in your property is a long-term decision. Even if it takes time, it has to start somewhere."

The second Gippsland irrigation expo – with free admission and a free lunch – will be held at Sale Showgrounds on March 15, 2017. Mark you diary now and keep an eye on fb.me/gippyirrigationexpo

Exhibitors can register for stands at that Facebook address and sponsorships are now being sought. Please phone 0402 267 802.
