Survey To Help Inform Better Public Library Marketing

Latrobe City will be conducting surveys in the Moe, Churchill, Morwell and Traralgon central business districts later this week, seeking random comments from the community on existing public library services.

The survey will be conducted between Thursday 11 October and Saturday 13 October.

Latrobe City’s deputy mayor, Cr David Wilson, said the survey aimed to gauge community awareness of existing public library services and gain feedback on the quality of service presentation; with the information collected to assist in the development of the Latrobe City library marketing plan.

"We are looking at the best ways we can communicate and present our libraries to ensure our community is aware of the full range of the resources, services and facilities available," Cr Wilson said.

Latrobe City’s manager community information services, Julie Kyriacou, said libraries are often referred to as the ‘third place’ - a living room away from home for many people; offering social interaction, information on what is happening in the community, along with offering educational and recreational opportunities.

"Our libraries not only provide books, magazines, music CDs and DVDs for loan; but there are community meeting rooms, photocopiers, school holiday programs, preschool story time and computers available for internet or personal use. We need to identify the best way to inform our community about the facilities and services available to them," Ms Kyriacou said.

"We hope that Latrobe City residents will assist us by offering feedback on the marketing of our services, ensuring our libraries continue to offer a place of value within our community."

Persons conducting the library survey will be clearly identified as authorised by Latrobe City to collect data. For further information, please contact Julie Kyriacou, telephone 1300 367 700.
