Ingram Supports TAFE Wage Increase

The Independent member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has supported a stop-work rally by local TAFE teachers today in support of higher wages

By Craig Ingram - 24th October 2008 - Back to News

Around 20 teachers and supporters attended a rally outside Mr Ingram’s electorate office in Bairnsdale this morning as part of a state-wide campaign by the Australian Education Union. Mr Ingram was unable to address the rally due to a regional sitting of Parliament at Churchill, but provided an open letter to all in attendance outlining his support for their cause.

"Over past months, I have met with a number of local TAFE employees and discussed the issues surrounding the state-wide campaign," Mr Ingram said

"I have also raised these concerns directly with the Minister for Skills and Workforce Participation, Jacinta Allan MP.

"I continue to support the views of my local TAFE teachers and their state-wide colleagues towards a wage increase and will continue to represent their views to the State Government," Mr Ingram concluded.
