Gippsland Water Not Linked To Filter Companies

Gippsland Water wishes to advise customers it is in no way affiliated with any water filter companies operating in the region.

Gippsland Water has received calls from residents suspicious of a door to door salesman who has been visiting homes in the Moe area. Our customers have advised us that the salesman asks where the resident’s water comes from, then insinuates he is working with the local water authority.

Allegedly, the salesman states the customers need to purchase a water filter as they are being installed in every home in Gippsland Water’s service area, which is not the case. Gippsland Water would like customers to be aware that water filters are unable to remove fluoride. The spruiker operating in the Gippsland area is allegedly claiming the water filters are able to remove fluoride, which is untrue.

Customers concerned about the legitimacy of anyone purporting to be representing or working with Gippsland Water are encouraged to ask for a form of identification. All Gippsland Water staff have photo identification cards with our spoonbill logo, and our two major contractors have dual-badged vehicles and identification cards.

If Gippsland Water can establish the identity of any individual or company misrepresenting their relationship with Gippsland Water, we will be advising Consumer Affairs.

All water supplied by Gippsland Water is treated to meet the standards set out in the Victorian Government’s Safe Drinking Water Act. In addition, it is monitored to ensure compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, with monitoring data regularly reported to the Department of Human Services.

Customers who have been approached by any salesperson giving false representations about being linked to a local water authority are encouraged to contact Gippsland Water on 1800 066 401.
