Green Waste Disposal Free Until New Year’S DayGreen waste will be accepted at all East Gippsland Shire disposal sites free of charge until close of business New Year’s Day. By East Gippsland Shire - 20th December 2006 - Back to News Shire CEO Steve Kozlowski said the Shire made the decision to extend the offer to make sure every possible piece of combustible material was removed from properties.
"It is vital that we minimise the risk of property loss and this is one of the best ways of helping the situation," he said.
Mr Kozloski said the Shire facilities would operate their normal business hours to accept the waste.
"While we have had extended hours in the past few days we must revert to normal hours because the facilities are operated by contractors whose staff have commitments."
"They have been generous with their co-operation but we must respect their position."
Mr Kozlowski said that Christmas Day was the only day that all facilities would be closed.
