Innovation Gippsland 2007 Takes Off

Innovation Gippsland showcases innovation from our region on a national stage in May, with over 35 events celebrating innovation in all walks of life.

The largest celebration of innovation in regional Australia runs until Wednesday May 30.

Mr Glenn Patterson, Chair of Innovation Gippsland and CEO of Baw Baw Shire said: "Gippsland has been recognised for a number of years as the biggest regional contributor to the Australian Innovation Festival. It is particularly pleasing to see the range and depth of events in this year’s program."

"Innovation is the key to our region’s future success. The businesses featured in this year’s launch showcase and the depth of this year’s program show how much our region has achieved," Mr Patterson continued,

Innovation Gippsland 2007 events are focused on business, tourism, environment, arts, education and community themes.

"One of the unique features of Innovation Gippsland is the way it brings together business, community and government in partnership to identify and celebrate some great local ideas being turned into reality," added Mr Patterson.

Tuesday May 8 – Bass Coast Event Planning Workshop

Hoping to start a new event or improve an existing one? This free workshop will highlight the support available from Council and other organisations.

Wednesday May 9 – E-Marketing Forum for tourism and small business operators

A free forum for tourism and small business operators wishing to learn more about e-marketing and innovative ways to apply it to their business. Speakers from Prom Country Regional Tourism, Tourism Victoria and Telstra Country Wide.

Friday May 11 – Creativity + Networks = A new approach for women in business

South Gippsland Manufacturing Network - Touring Innovative Manufacturers

Hosted by South Gippsland Shire, the award-winning businesses Keil Industries and Mirboo North Brewery will show how they have used innovative approaches to build their businesses. Tour starts at South Gippsland Shire offices and finishes at the Grand Ridge Brewery. Starting at 4pm to 6pm.
