By GLGN - 12th December 2005 - Back to News Telstra Country Wide area general manager for Gippsland, Jane Oakley, said the company was proud to support the annual festival and will be demonstrating the outstanding products and services developed in the region.
"Gippsland is the hub of creative thinking and the festival is a great way to promote the innovative technology and services being developed in the community," Ms Oakley said.
"The Festival provides business, community and government with a unique opportunity to demonstrate and share innovation locally and nationally."
Telstra Country Wide’s sponsorship includes funding and communications technology support for the event.
Chair of the Gippsland Innovation Festival and Latrobe City’s chief executive officer, Paul Buckley, welcomed the support of Telstra Country Wide.
"We are delighted to have Jane and the team from Telstra Country Wide on board. Telstra’s communications technology support for the event will be invaluable, and Jane’s team has already facilitated the webcast of the 2005 State launch in Melbourne, the Innovation Showcase in Warragul and a number of other significant events in Traralgon, Bairnsdale and Wonthaggi."
Ms Oakley said that Telstra Country Wide is planning to run an ‘Innovative Technology Showcase’ throughout Gippsland at various locations throughout the Festival.
"We are working in partnership with a number of small and medium sized enterprises across the region as a part of our commitment to building innovative business solutions. The Festival is a great opportunity to showcase the work that has been done with local businesses to make their businesses stronger," Ms Oakley said.
Preparations for the Gippsland Innovation Festival are well underway. The program of 35 events across Gippsland is filling quickly as event organisers from previous years renew their commitment.
Mr Buckley added that the Gippsland Innovation Festival has always had popular support because business and community understand how important it is to our region’s development. "The Festival is an important part of the Gippsland Local Government Network’s commitment to encouraging a culture of innovation in our community," he said.
"As in previous years we are interested in showcasing Innovation portrayed through all aspects of regional life. Themes will include business, community, environment, the arts, agriculture, research, education and technology," Mr Buckley concluded.
