Summer Safety Reminder

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin is calling for the community to take extreme care over the next few weeks.

"We are in a period of extreme fire danger over summer.

"The recent fires across Victoria have highlighted how vulnerable we can be, and how important it is to have strong emergency management systems in place," said Cr Goodwin.

Residents and visitors to Bass Coast are urged to have emergency numbers on hand. In the case of an emergency, everyone is reminded to contact 000, and have clear details of the type and location of the emergency. For information on bushfires in your area, you can contact the Victoria Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667.

As always, people are urged to take care on the many beaches around the Shire.

"All our major beaches have numbers displayed on yellow triangle signs.

"It’s important that people take note of these numbers, because in the case of an emergency, this indicates the exact location to emergency services," Cr Goodwin continued.
