By news@gippsland - 9th April 2024 - Back to News The Inverloch Bowls Club has set a shining example of excellence in community sports infrastructure with recent upgrades to their facilities, including new greens and an upgraded pavilion. Today marks another significant milestone as the club embarks on installing new lights to ensure the local community can enjoy night-time play. 
Joining the festivities are Mayor Clare Le Serve and Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale MP didn't miss the chance to roll a few under the new lights, kicking off the club's eight week season Inverloch bowls illuminatedMayor Cr Clare Le Serve commended the club's proactive approach, saying, "The Inverloch Bowls Club has demonstrated just how a club can deliver with upgrades to their facilities with new greens and an upgraded pavilion being achieved in recent years. And today we see the next step in action, to get new lights so the club can satisfy the huge interest of their members and the community who are keen to play at night." This development is a result of a collaborative effort between the Inverloch Bowls Club and Bass Coast Shire Council, who together submitted an application through Sport and Recreation Victoria for the lights. The club took the lead in driving the project through its construction stage, showcasing the dedication of its passionate committee members who volunteered their time and services. The total construction cost for this project was approximately $148,000. This funding was secured through a grant of $104,000 from the Victorian Government Community Sports Lighting Stream, along with a $44,000 contribution from the club itself. Community success celebratedJordan Crugnale MP, the local member for Bass, also joined the celebration, offering her support and appreciation for the collaborative efforts that have led to this achievement. "Congratulations to the club for advocating and delivering this project, thank you to Jordan Crugnale and the Victorian Government for your investment into our local community groups." "And finally thank you particularly to John Sutcliffe and Terry Seaward who have been pivotal in ensuring the club's long-term sustainability and establishing a strong community interest in the sport - a great effort" said Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve.
