The library will be built in the civic precinct in Wonthaggi and will service the network of libraries throughout the Shire.
"This is the opportunity for people to shape the future of library services in the Shire," said Glenys Sharma, Council’s Community Services Manager. "It is a significant community project for present and future generations of the Shire’s residents and visitors."
The role of the advisory committee will be to provide advice about the plans, ensure the community’s present and future needs are considered and communicate information to the whole community about the project and its progress.
Ms. Sharma explained that it was hoped the Advisory Committee would include representatives from a broad cross-section of the Bass Coast community.
The Advisory Committee will be selected on the basis of:
Geographical spread
Age representation
Communication, advocacy and marketing skills
Knowledge and understanding of providing information services, including the Internet, into the future
Individual’s involvement in a range of community interests.
