Council provides taxi shelter for Warragul

Baw Baw Shire Council has improved amenity and comfort for taxi patrons in Smith Street by recently installing a taxi shelter.

Council Chief Executive Officer, Mr Glenn Patterson said Council responded to the needs of the taxi operators and patrons. "Some patrons and drivers had spoken to Councillors about the possibility of a shelter and I’m pleased that Council has been able to deliver it," said Mr Patterson.

"This shelter should make waiting for a taxi much more comfortable for patrons, particularly with some of the inclement weather Warragul gets. It’s good timing for the late autumn and winter months," said Mr Patterson.

Manager of the West Gippsland Taxi Service, Mr Wally Gardiner thanked Council for the installation of the shelter. "I really appreciate what Council has done," said Mr Gardiner. "This shelter is important to our patrons and drivers."

Drouin patrons have also received a much needed taxi shelter at the taxi rank in Hope Street; this was installed in late December 2005. Council invested approximately $20 000 on the purchase and installation of the two shelters.
