Manga And Music Mix For Library School Holiday Program Whilst the weather may not be favourable to outdoor activities during these winter school holidays, there is plenty to enjoy indoors with a varied program taking place at Latrobe City Libraries. By Latrobe City - 26th June 2012 - Back to News Latrobe City Libraries coordinator, Debbie Skinner, said that the program promised fun and entertainment for young people.
"In week one, an instructor from OZtraku will teach Manga cartoon drawing classes. Manga art is a Japanese style of comic drawing and can be seen in popular cartoons and games like Beyblade, Dragonball and Pokemon. Children will learn the basics of this art style in a one hour session. The sessions are designed for primary school student ages 6 and up, with all the necessary equipment required supplied. As places are limited to 25 children per session, booking is essential," Ms Skinner said.
Sessions for primary school students will be held at Moe Library on Tuesday 3 July at 10.30am, Morwell Library at 1pm and the Traralgon Library at 3pm.
"On Wednesday 4 July, extended Manga art sessions will be available for upper primary and secondary school students providing a more in depth look at the craft. These hour and an half sessions should produce some great results, especially for students who love art and comic drawing. Book in early as numbers are again limited to 25 students," Ms Skinner said.
Sessions for upper primary and secondary school students will be held on Wednesday 4 July at Traralgon Library from 10.30am to 12 noon and at the Moe Library from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Ms Skinner added that during the second week of the holidays, the ever popular children’s entertainer, Paul Jamieson the music man, will be performing a 45 minute show at all Latrobe City libraries.
"Paul has released several CDs and a DVD and has appeared at many major events including Warrnambool’s Fun for Kids, Kids Day Out, The Comedy Festival (Kids) and several Disney events.
"His music is an appealing mix of pop, reggae and calypso, all with children’s themes. His show engages children, encouraging audience participation and includes a chance for the children to play along using a musical instrument (tambourines, shakers etc) from his basket of goodies. Paul’s shows are great fun, interactive and should not be missed," Ms Skinner said.
Paul Jamieson will be performing on Tuesday 10 July at Traralgon Library at 10.30am and at the Morwell Library at 1pm; on Wednesday 11 July at 11.30am at the Churchill Library and at 2.30pm at the Moe Library.
Paul’s DVD and CDs will be available for purchase on the day
Bookings for all sessions are essential. Tickets are priced at $5 per child. Tickets must be paid for and collected within 48 hours of booking unless prior arrangements are made for collection. To book please call 1300 367 700 or visit your local library.
