Education Minister Martin Dixon said following the successful first round of Bully Stoppers grants, the Victorian Government was providing another 50 Victorian schools with grants to run anti-bullying programs, including Commercial Road Primary School in the Morwell Electorate area.

"The first round of grants produced everything from anti-bullying film festivals and peer mediation programs to a „Gangnam-style‟ Bully Stoppers dance," Mr Dixon said.

"The grants are there to get students thinking about what they can do to make a difference, and to encourage positive behaviour at schools.

"The feedback from the first round was fantastic, and I know that the schools receiving funding in the second round will do just as well.

"The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring schools are safe, inclusive and supportive places."

School clusters receive $10,000 grants and individual schools receive $5,000. In the first round of the grants, more than 100 Victorian schools shared in $450,000.

The grants program is a part of the Victorian Government‟s $4 million Bully Stoppers initiative and the broader $14.5 million Stamp Out Bullying! campaign.

The Victorian Government is also investing over $124 million to introduce 150 additional Primary Welfare Officers in schools, $10.5 million for the eSmart cyber-safety program, and $2 million to improve teachers' capacity to manage challenging student behaviours.

Member for Morwell Russell Northe said "Commercial Road Primary Schools behaviours within the school are the core values of Support, Co-operation, Acceptance, Respect and Friendliness (SCARF).

"The grant will allow the Art teacher to consolidate and work in with the SCARF lessons and design two murals on two prominent walls in the school playground. These murals will depict the SCARF values and the Stop, Think, Do and Anti-Bully slogans and images that are the foundations of the student wellbeing policy," Mr Northe said.

"Up to one-in-five children are involved in bullying at any one time in schools.

"The Bully Stoppers message is to „Make a Stand, Lend a Hand‟ – step in and help out when you see bullying occurring."
