Yallourn in Full Swing for Gippsland Super 6
Inaugural PGA Tour of Australasia’s ‘Gippsland Super 6’ takes the region by storm.
Tournament week is underway at Yallourn Golf Club as the inaugural PGA Tour of Australasia’s ‘Gippsland Super 6’ takes the region by storm.
With the likes of former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, Olympic record holder Marcus Fraser and Gippsland footy great Brendon Goddard in the field, this week’s historic event has put the region in the national sporting spotlight.
The Victorian Government is proudly supporting the event through the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $85 million sports and community initiative, which is bringing the PGA to Gippsland for a year-round calendar of community activity, events and opportunities.
The PGA has brought school visits, clinics, Golf in Schools program, women’s ‘swing-fit’ sessions and inclusive golfing opportunities for people with disabilities to the region throughout 2019, with this week’s Super 6 extravaganza adding the icing on the cake.
Tournament week has included some incredible opportunities for the community, whether it be the three local qualifiers for the Super 6, players in pro-ams, or young people involved in school clinics or the caddy kids program.
The Victorian Government is also proud to have supported the Yallourn Golf Club’s bid for the PGA event by funding almost $200,000 worth of upgrades to the venue through the LVA’s community facility fund.
These key upgrades ensured the club was in a strong position to attract major events now and into the future.
The Gippsland Super 6 will continue over the weekend concluding with a thrilling finale on Sunday.

"We hope this event will add to Gippsland’s 14,000 registered golfers within 100 kilometres of Yallourn and a further estimated 26,000 social golfers as a result of this partnership between government and the PGA of Australasia.
