Following a rally in Sale yesterday, which was attended by 500 people, the Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has been asked to mediate meetings to retain the services of paediatricians Peter Goss and Jo McCubbin at CGHS.

A resolution passed at the rally stated "The community of Gippsland call upon the appointed Board of Management and the interim CEO of CGHS to immediately convene a meeting with Drs Goss & McCubbin with a mediator (Craig Ingram) and a community representative (Dale Bond), to resolve the details of the future plans for the paediatric services at CGHS & the retention of Drs Goss and McCubbins’ services."

Mr Ingram said today that there had been an overwhelming community response to the resignations of the two doctors last month.

"Residents from across Gippsland have shared their experiences of how they have been deeply touched by the dedication of these two paediatricians in the treatment of their children.

"There are two real components to this issue and these have been identified in the resolution passed at the rally.

"The first is the retention of Drs Goss and McCubbin, and the second is the security and future of paediatric services at CGHS.

"I will do everything that I can to have these matters addressed," Mr Ingram said.
