Garbage Collection Delayed At Raymond Island

East Gippsland Shire has announced that the regular Wednesday garbage and recycle collection on Raymond Island will be delayed.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 4th July 2007 - Back to News

Shire waste management coordinator Megan Dennett said the collection vehicles were too heavy for the emergency barge and there was no suitable place to land them.

"The collections will resume as soon as the ferry is back in operation and residents will be advised when to put their bins out," she said.

"Residents are also urged to contain any excess domestic rubbish and all hard waste on their own properties until Council is able to access the Island with collection vehicles."

Ms Dennett said that in Paynesville the regular Thursday collection would go ahead.

"At this stage we are confident it can be completed successfully."
