Tree To Be Removed Following Safety Inspection

A tree at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre site in Traralgon will be removed by Latrobe City Council in the interest of public safety, following a recent incident of a branch falling from the large gum tree.

By Latrobe City - 24th November 2011 - Back to News

Latrobe City’s manager community infrastructure, Jody O’Kane said an inspection had been carried out by Council’s tree maintenance staff and the tree had been declared dangerous.

"The tree was found to have extensive internal rotting and will unfortunately have to be removed," Mr O’Kane said.

"The removal of such a large and prominent tree is regrettable, but in the light of the circumstances it is the only option available to us.

"The remainder of the trees in the area are in a good state and pruning has been carried out to assist their longevity," Mr O’Kane concluded.

The tree in question will be removed in the coming days by Latrobe City tree maintenance staff.
