Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has planned a bus trip along the Great Alpine Road between Bairnsdale and Omeo following concerns raised by regular travellers of the route.

Mr Ingram is a regular traveller along the Great Alpine Road in his own car, but this time will accompany Omeo Bus Lines proprietor, Trevor Smith, on his daily bus trip from Bairnsdale to Omeo.

"The continuing deteriorating condition of The Great Alpine Road, combined with increasing traffic flows and lack of adequate overtaking lanes is causing concern among regular travellers as well as tourists.

Mr Ingram, together for the Federal Member for Gippsland, Peter McGauran will address a public meeting in Omeo on Thursday night, September 2, and then travel to Bairnsdale on Friday morning on the Omeo Bus Lines coach.

"I encourage interested members of the High Country communities to attend Thursday night’s meeting and to use the forum to express their views on the current state of the Great Alpine Road," Mr Ingram concluded.
