Living Expo To Showcase The Best Of Gippsland  Regional Victoria Living Expo Victoria’s first ever Regional Victoria Living Expo will be held next week at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. By Russell Northe - 20th April 2012 - Back to News Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe spoke in Parliament today about the expo, running from 27 to 29 April, which will provide an opportunity for local exhibitors to demonstrate and showcase what regional Victoria has to offer.
"I’m sure visitor numbers and interest will be substantial at this event, the first of its kind held in Melbourne," said Mr Northe.
"Exhibitors will come from a diverse range of sectors including education, business, tourism, community and Local Government organisations.
"There are already approximately 130 exhibitors who will be on site over the three days with the Gippsland region well represented.
"Information on the regions will concentrate on features such as regional businesses, sport and lifestyle opportunities, housing, careers, education, and relocation services.
"One of the intentions of the Expo is to inform visitors of the benefits of living in Regional Victoria and encourage people to consider our regional communities as a place in which to reside."
Mr Northe said the Deputy Premier Peter Ryan in Parliament this week informed the House of the fact that population growth in metropolitan Melbourne is increasing at a far greater rate than what currently occurs in Regional Victoria.
"This means that there is currently an economic difference in terms of Government spending on infrastructure as a consequence.
"It is therefore imperative that we promote the opportunities for people to live, work and enjoy all that regional Victoria has to offer.
"It’s also pleasing to see the number of prominent Victorians who have accepted the role of Expo ambassadors which will no doubt add to the attraction of the Expo.
"I commend the Minister for instigating an initiative such as the Regional Victoria Living Expo and I’m sure it will be a great success."
