¡§This funding will fund new activities and reimburse Latrobe City Council and community groups for repairs undertaken at several community and recreational assets located at the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Harold Preston Reserve,¡¨ Mr Northe said.

¡§These recreational assets have been affected by a number of floods in the past few years and local groups have spent considerable funds to ensure ongoing operations.

¡§Flood recovery works include replacement of carpets, playing surfaces, white goods and other equipment, fencing and electrical works.¡¨

Mr Northe said Latrobe City Council would receive $240,027 from the $2 million 2012 Flood Recovery Community Infrastructure Fund.

This funding will support 12 projects in Latrobe City including:

„h Traralgon Recreation Reserve $67,209

„h Traralgon Recreation Reserve Football Club $14,519

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Sandy Kam, said that it was fantastic news for Council and the 12 local clubs who will receive funding.

¡§We have been working closely with the clubs to prepare the submissions and we¡¦re delighted that the funding has been allocated. Both the clubs and Latrobe City Council have been out of pocket since 2012 dealing with the aftermath of the floods so to have the monies now available is good news all round,¡¨ Cr Kam said.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan said the Victorian Government has allocated more than $411,000 from the 2012 Flood Recovery Community Infrastructure Fund to six councils across the Hume and Gippsland regions that were affected by last year¡¦s floods.

¡§The Victorian Coalition Government is pleased to support the re-establishment and replacement of flood-damaged assets that are important to these regional communities,¡¨ he said.
