Latrobe Valley community members are invited to walk the corridors of power and get a glimpse behind Victoria’s historic Legislative Assembly and Council chambers at this year’s Parliament House Open Day on Sunday, 25 March.

Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging members of the community to make the most of this opportunity to see inside the historical Parliament House building, one of Melbourne’s best known landmarks.

"Whilst undertaking a self-guided tour through Parliament, visitors will get to explore areas of the building not usually open to the public, with Parliamentary members and staff on hand to answer any questions," Mr Northe said.

"Thousands of visitors take advantage of visiting Parliament House every year and the Open Day provides members of the public with a unique opportunity to learn more about the colourful parliamentary characters that have left their indelible mark in the state’s history books.

"The day finishes with a stroll through Parliament House’s magnificent gardens, providing views of the city not ordinarily seen by visitors to Melbourne and entertainment will be provided and refreshments available for purchase," Mr Northe said.

The Open Day will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm and admission is free.
