Foothills Music Festival Date AnnouncedBriagolong will come to life again this year with the Bi-annual Foothills Music Festival during the school holidays, on Saturday, October 4 from 10am til late. By Rachel Patton - 13th August 2014 - Back to News Proudly supported by the Wellington Shire, the day will be packed with wonderful workshops in drumming, ukulele, singing, tin whistle, marimbas, dance and children’s music.
The festival first began in 1986 when a few locals got together to learn to play the tin whistle and twenty-eight years later, it is still attracting wide interest. One of the key strengths of the festival is its appeal to a wide range of music lovers; from experienced to amateur musicians as well as those who don’t consider themselves musical at all. The event is also renowned for being family friendly, offering a wide range of workshops and performances for the whole family. There are some specific children’s dance and music workshops and many open age sessions where older children can join the adults. Come and enjoy the family friendly community spirit that participants have come to expect from this event.
Workshops will be followed by a mega-strum Jam session in the afternoon where experienced musos and beginners can come together in a large group, then a bush dance with the Briagolong Bushband. An opportunity for people to showcase their talents will follow in the evening. Participants can relax between workshops with a complimentary cuppa at the Briag Hall or pay a visit to the Riverstone cafe or the Briag Hotel, wandering through Briag Books, the Gallery, Rust or Auraz. Come and join us in Briagolong on Saturday, October 4 and remember to 'like' us on Facebook to help spread the word! www.facebook.com/foothills
