Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds.

Member for Morwell Russell Northe said the completed plan would consider how the reserve was utilised and assess any current issues associated with its use.

"Engaging with the key stakeholders of the reserve as well as the local community will allow an initial review of the immediate needs of this wonderful asset available to those in the Traralgon area," Mr Northe said.

Mr Northe said that the reserve was currently managed by a number of different groups.

"The master plan will give the reserve a unified approach to all of its stakeholders, and will certainly benefit the local community. It will promote the future development of the reserve to deliver the best outcomes for all of its users and the community," Mr Northe said.

"This is just one of many master plans that Latrobe City Council are doing over the next period of time."

The Victorian Government’s $1 billion Regional Growth Fund will contribute $30,000 towards the $45,000 project with funding partner, Latrobe City Council, putting forward $15,000. Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Sandy Kam, said that the master plan would be a great example of user groups and the Council working together towards a common end.

"Developing a master plan for the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds means engaging with many users of the reserve to receive their feedback. This allows us to create a master plan that truly reflects the needs and desires of the users and the community both now and into the future," Cr Kam said.

Mr Northe said the Victorian Government’s support for the project demonstrated its commitment to driving development across the state to ensure regional Victoria remained a great place to live and work.

"The Regional Growth Fund supports community-led local initiatives such as the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds Master Plan project that improve the liveability of regional and rural Victoria," Mr Northe said.

"At the end of August, the Regional Growth Fund had supported 1167 projects worth a total of more than $1.42 billion. In Latrobe City, the Regional Growth Fund has provided $14.83 million to 42 projects worth $45.59 million."
