Summer Bus Service – Complementing New ServicesThe Bass Coast Summer Bus Service between Inverloch and Cowes will operate again over the summer period following the great success of the service last year. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 6th December 2006 - Back to News The Summer Bus offers additional services to the community by providing direct links from Inverloch, Cape Paterson and Wonthaggi to Cowes, which means people do not have to change buses.
"This summer bus service complements the new services and provides a greater opportunity to travel from Inverloch, Cape Paterson and Cowes than the services operating all year round," said John Sanderson, Bass Coast Transport Connections Project Facilitator and coordinator of the service.
"The services are great value for money with a single fare from Inverloch to Cowes being $7.60 for a full fare and $3.80 for a concession fare.
"The service will leave Inverloch at 10.00am and 2.00pm and Cowes at 11.30am and 3.30pm, giving people plenty of time for their activities. If you use this service in combination with the existing services there are more choices for travelling," said Mr Sanderson.
The service will operate weekdays and Saturdays between Tuesday, 26 December 2006 and Saturday, 3 February 2007. There will be no services on a Sunday. The service will use V/Line stops along the route.
"Last year almost 1,000 people used the service to access beaches, visit shops or just spend time with friends," said Mr Sanderson. "Everyone is encouraged to use the service. It will be a great help in increasing accessibility across the Shire."
Timetables and fares for the service will be available from Bass Coast Shire Council’s Customer Service Centres and Visitor Information Centres and will be advertised in the local newspapers on a regular basis throughout the summer.
The timetable and fares will be posted on community notice boards and will also be available on Bass Coast Shire’s website www.basscoast.vic.gov.au. And finally, the information will be available in the Sun, Surf and Sand brochure, which is available from most information outlets.
