The latest edition of Bass Coast Shire Council’s community newsletter, Coastell, will be delivered to houses and businesses across the Shire from 8 August.

By Bass Coast - 9th August 2011 - Back to News

The centrepiece of the new issue is a 2011/12 Budget feature.

Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, said Coastell's feature outlined some of the highlights of the new budget.

"This information gives community members a good overview of the initiatives and projects planned for the coming year," Mr Bawden explained. "Once again, we have a focus on capital works and $11.88 million has been allocated for roads. "I encourage anyone wanting more detail on the budget to visit our website. You can download a full copy of the budget or look at comparative data from previous years and other Gippsland councils."

This edition also includes:
• No Council sponsored New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Cowes
• Business of the Year
• Caring for our recreation reserves
• A Retreat for Carers program by the Aged and Disability team
• Foreshore management and protection
• Safe cycling initiatives
• Indigenous affairs
• Roads and the desalination plant
• Community consultation table update

Copies of the new Coastell are available at Council Customer Service and Visitor Information Centres, as well as libraries and the YMCA.
