Have your say on Education and Training Reform Regulations ReviewMember for Morwell Russell Northe has encouraged educators and parents of school children to take an active role in the current review of regulations in the Education and Training Reform Act 2007. By Portal Admin - 8th February 2017 - Back to News Mr Northe said he was very concerned that the Andrews Labor Government had released the paper for comment a few days before Christmas when media coverage was limited.
"I don’t think many people outside the government would even be aware of this review," Mr Northe said.
"The consultation was the first step in introducing some significant change and it is critically important that educators and parents are informed and involved at this stage of the process."
Mr Northe said the draft regulations cover a wide range of areas including regulations around home schooling, school bus programs, and how school councils and parent’s clubs are run.
"I encourage parents and educators to read the consultation paper carefully and make a submission in areas of interest," Mr Northe said.
"It is important that all families educating their children in country settings have a say in how education is regulated in this state, and inform the final design and implementation of the new regulations with their experiences and common sense."
The public consultation period will close on the 28th February 2017 and the link to the government website on the proposed changes can be found at http://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/legislation/Pages/act2006regsreview.aspx
